About the maker

Giles Rayner

Artist and metalworker, working from a workshop in the heart of Cotswold farmland.

Portrait of Giles Rayner, sculptor and maker of Foxy Glass mirror tiles

From his father's workshop

Giles began experimenting with metalwork in his father's workshop as a young man. That early fascination led him to Kingston University, where he completed a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Sculpture in 2002.

Sculpture in copper, steel and bronze

Since then he has created private and public water sculptures in copper, stainless steel and bronze, and he regularly exhibits at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. His work is found across Europe, the Middle East, the US and Asia.

Bringing it to the mirror

Foxy Glass applies the same metalworking sensibility and understanding of materials behind Giles's sculpture to antiqued mirror glass. Each tile is worked by hand, so the foxing, clouding and metallic tones settle differently every time — giving every tile its own character.
